As part of our ongoing recruitment campaign, we are very pleased to announce that Michael Hillesdon has joined Prima and will be working within our Development department.
Michael will be joining our team of 11 software developers and as an apprentice. Following his initial training, Michael will be involved in the ongoing progression of PrimaGO and our web applications.
A graduate from the University of York, Michael has begun a part-time Masters in Computer Science. He has also been coding as a hobby for years and is keen to develop his skills working with our experienced team.
I caught up with Michael to find out a little more about him:
Welcome to the team Michael, it’s great to have you join the company. So you’ve always had an interest in software development and coding as a hobby whilst at University, what kind of applications have you written?
I’ve programmed with Java and Python. In Java I made a dynamic grading program that would return the correct grade of a student depending on their marks over certain modules. I also messed around with Python and I made a Sudoku solver with that.
Fantastic, so when you’re not coding and cheating at Sudoku, what else do you enjoy doing?
I am a classically trained musician; First study singer and a second study French Horn player. I used to play as part of a band that would perform before the fans at York City Knights Stadium.
Outside of coding and music, I love spending time in the outdoors, usually on my mountain bike up a hill!
I am so thrilled to be accepted as Prima Software’s latest Software Developer Apprentice and I cannot wait to get stuck into a variety of unique and challenging projects.

Michael will begin working on our E-commerce applications when he has concluded a program on learning and understanding all the offerings we have. This is an exciting time for Michael to be joining and his skills and enthusiasm will bring further harmony to the team as we move forward with all the new enhancements in 2021.
